Abbey Quilters Hexagon Mystery
We are looking for information regarding a large bag of 1" hexagons that were recently handed into the Charity for Care shop in Kelso. In particular, we would like to find out more about the history behind these hexagons that appear to be 70-80 years old and in very good condition. We estimate there are over 1200 hexagons hand sewn in the blocks and together with loose pieces there are well over 2500 hexagons. Amongst the loose hexagons are clues - strips of paper with the names Dorothy Braidwood, Agnes Lauder and Mrs. J. Purves. If you have any information that can help solve this mystery, please get in contact using the green Hexagon Mystery button below. Thank you!
MYSTERY UPDATE!
These mystery hexagons have found a new home with Jane Cobbett in Coventry. Jane is a tutor in the history of fabrics and her group have offered to help preserve and research the history of these hexagons. Thank you Jane!
