Abbey Quilters in Kelso were formed 1988-1989.  Before this, the group comprised of local ladies who met weekly on a Monday. This group was led by Vivien Hamilton, from East Lothian, who taught them and was also the Quilters Guild Rep for East Lothian and the Borders.

 

The quilt in room 2 (photos below) was made under her tuition/supervision. This quilt was presented to the Abbey Row Centre in 1991.

Abbey Quilters have an exhibition every two years and the first exhibition was held in July 1990.  Proceeds from the raffle quilts all go to local charities.
